I loved this morning. Jack and I got to meet baby Miles, only 6-wks-old. He's just a cutie! And Miss Olivia and Mr. Jack tore around the house. Jack LOVED chasing Olivia around and I think Olivia enjoyed being chased.

Stinky.Grrrr.BarkBark

Tom and I would *like* to think we're two intelligent human beings. You know, we have college degrees, both working in wonderful professions, etc. So here's the story of Jack's Halloween costume, along with an explanation of the title of this blog.

We're at Costco and see cute costumes for $10. WHOO-HOO. One of Jack's favorite books is "I love you, Stinky Face" which contains a skunk in it.

Tom: Hey, here's a skunk.

Marla: Yea! Let's get it.

...Hoods arrive at home....

Marla: Uhm, this isn't a skunk. There isn't a stripe down the back.

Tom: Ooooh! I guess not.

Marla: Silly us, it's a bear!

....Costume is put away....a couple weeks later and a trip to a Fall Carnival (pics above).....

We arrive at the fall carnival and run into some of Tom's coworkers.

Coworker to Jack: Hi there Jack, "Bark, Bark"

Marla: Uhm, I think a bear says, "Grrrr".

Coworker: Oh wow - I thought he was a dog.

Marla: Nooooo, waaait a minute. (Inspects the outfit closer) Oh my, HE IS A DOG! TOOOM!!

Tom: What?!?

Marla to another coworker: Is he a dog? Is the long tail the giveaway (duh).

Other coworker: Yes Marla, he's a dog.

.....Marla and Tom laugh and are sheepish.

NOW, if anyone would like to guess that Jack's something else, by all means. We've realized we're numnuts on this one. BUT, we still think he looks cute :)

Frankenstein

Last night, just after taking this little video, Jack continued to walk around. He went into the bathroom and we heard a "thud". The nearest we could tell, he fell and hit his face on the bathtub (OUCH). Nothing was bleeding, but wouldn't you know it - just this morning I noticed a slight chip in his right front tooth. My poor baby. It's no wonder he was crying!! Siiigh - the walking war wounds are starting.

Light reading

Jack, enjoying the Employment section of the paper. It's really cute - he actually sits there and acts like he's reading it.

I love this shot below....you know when you start talking to someone who's reading the paper and they shift the paper to the side to pay attention to you....that's what Jack did when he realized Tom was taking the picture.

Jack has a little 'sofa' that he loves for reading. We've discovered that every now and then, he likes it for naptimes too. Maybe that's because he gets the comforter and pillow, unlike in his crib.

FINALLY - He's walking!!!

For ~the last month, we *knew* Jack could walk. He was down to holding just one of our fingers while toodlin' around. So tonight, instead of just walking beside him, I decided to get in front of him and see what he did. Well, the video proves it. Walking like it's no big deal. We had already tried the "walk between the parents" and he'd just give up.

It's a whole new era now, baby!

BailMeOutOfTarget

In these tough economic times, it was VERY IMPORTANT for us to stick to the essentials for purchases. And nothing helps us do that better than a visit to our brand-new Target (who's laughing?!?). Most would be surprised that during my 1st visit this week, I bought Nothing.Nada.Zilch. Ok, so it was almost Jack's nap time and I didn't want a meltdown.


Visit #2, Tom came with. We had our list of ESSENTIAL items to buy. I left him in the toy dept. to entertain Jack. Who would've thunk that the ESSENTIAL items included a remote control Batmobile "for Jack". Never mind the age for the toy is 5+ yrs. Ahem.
