Cuteness alert

Aaah - there's nothing like a sleeping baby....for many reasons. I just wanted to bring to light one thing....do you think he needs a haircut? Jack's hair probably grows as fast as mine...hmmm, wonder where he got that.
It's been an interesting few days. Tom's been at an out-of-state conference and returns TONIGHT.....YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I'm so happy! Single-parenting isn't really for me. Although, Jack's been great. We did try to have Tom read him a story over the phone. That worked well. If by well, you know it to be Jack eating the phone instead. Whoops.
And I'm doubly-thrilled because indoor soccer started back up today. Ooooh yea. Haven't touched a soccer ball in 1 1/2 mths. It was slightly evident out on the field. I did score a goal though! Admittedly, if I DIDN'T score it would've been in the soccer Hall of Shame - the ball was 2 inches from the goal line when I struck it in. Oh well - I snuck behind the keeper and my teammate squeaked the ball past him to me. But it's good to be out wheezing on the field again. Reminds me that I'm not a runner....unless there's a little white ball in front of me :)
And I'm going to sign off of here. As evidenced by the picture above, I might actually have a chance to eat a hot meal (did I just jinx that?).

Cheesin'

Here's Mr. Jack-Jack and I. We've both been sick and are desperately trying to get back to normal. I hate being sick - especially when a good friend has a baby and I can't even meet him yet. Grrrr.
On another note - do you see how flat Jack's hair is?!?!? Ack - what happened! Well, it's "thickening" up and flattening out. Time for another haircut and some gel.

Can you see me now?

Curious

I wouldn't know why, but Tom's really questioning if he's the father of our 2nd baby (below).

hahahahaha
Ok, ok just kidding
We've had the privilege of babysitting our adorable 3-mth old neighbor, Khaliq.
(And contrary to the angle of how I'm sitting above, NO, I'm not pregnant!)

We all loved listening to him babble....even Jack was intrigued. And then Tom and I both could hardly believe that yes, at one time, Jack was this small. Siiiigh.

Portraits

Since we're pretty boring, I'll post portraits that we had taken when back in VA in July. Meant to get them up, but never did. Some of you received the wallet-size ones of Jack we sent out. If you didn't, feel free to snag one below (I've run out!) :)

My fav (below)

Hood Boys....
hmm, Tom's the only one who doesn't share the same name as the other three.

The Birthday Boy

As you can see, Jack did a fine job attacking his birthday cake. Had Marla's folks over for a nice dinner of BBQ chicken. Marla made yummy beer bread. And Jack enjoyed smearing cake everyway. He went straight to the bathtub after his messy adventure. Marla and I also fixed up his room a little more and established a little area for him to have books and toys. Overall, it was a good day and has been a fun year. The lack of sleep has been well worth the many smiles and laughs we have gotten from our boy this last year.
For those that want to enjoy a full account of Jack's cake, please watch the video.

Happy 1st b-day, our little boy!

You entered the world and into our hearts one year ago.....
And the personality has come out.....

Niiiiiiiiice. Guess I needed a nose job.
We'll post more b-day pics later. We're having cake tonight, so the cake-all-over-the-face pics will soon come!

Right of passage

The tupperware cupboard - it's a must to take everything out and well, leave it out. This is an important right of passage for every child.

Tractor driving

Jan Michael's b-day present from his grandparents was this tractor. So all the kids took turns driving and enjoying it. Aaah it's good to be a kid.

Let chaos reign - part 2

Rob & Oscar opening his gifts.
Jack checking out his new "Fridge Farm".
Jens showing Oscar how to drive Jan's new "backhoe". All the kids took turns, which was very nice of Jan to share.
Heya cutie!

Oscar, driving like he's been doing it for ages.

Let chaos reign

What happens when you add 3 little boys' birthdays (Oscar (2)- Aug 30, Jan Michael (2)- today!, and Jack (1) - Sept. 6) and 2 little girls named Olivia together?!?! Wonderful chaos. We had a great time up at Jens and Heather's...who graciously hosted the b-day party. Thank you!

Jack's just grinning - waiting for that cake. I might add that it's a good thing grandma bought the cousins matching shirts.....because Jan and Jack look like they could be brothers!
Each boy took his turn blowing out the candle. I think I caught the best shot of Jan blowing out his. Uhm - never mind that the candle says '3'. Maybe that's for 3 boys :)

Olivia G. helping Jack open his gift. Olivia B. kept calling her "Other Olivia".
